Book: Gone Girl
Author: Gillian Flynn
Review: Wow. This book to me was incredible. It had two points of view from a 1st person narrative. 1 is Nick and one is Amy, a husband and wife duo. In this book we get only Nick in the present and Amy in the past and present in diary form. It’s a really interesting story with so many twists and turns and I got so emotionally invested in this book. Opinions for characters changed throughout and it was full of emotion and drama and honestly I loved this book a lot. I’m the sort of person who reads the book before watching the film so I haven’t actually seen the David Fincher version of this film but I want to. I’m wondering how the book was transformed into a film because it seems like it would be difficult to do. The writing style for both Nick and Amy is pleasant to read but I will warn you that there is violence and vulgar language so if you don’t like that sort of thing or you’re younger, I do not recommend that you read this book. I definitely recommend this book as a whole and I have been telling my friends to read it because I enjoy it and I want to be able to discuss it (with spoilers) with someone. This book really did surprise me in some places, I expected sweeter things and the ending was just manic and odd. I’m not sure what I thought of the ending but it kinda matched the rest of the book, completely mental, slightly messed up and interesting. Seriously if you haven’t already I highly recommend picking up this book and I am ashamed of myself for leaving it on my bookshelf unread for so long!
